Istanbul: Day 3 - Panaromic view at Galata Tower and the Taksim Square area.

We got our lunch at one of the restaurants under the Galata Bridge. I even got a chance to watch a baby dolphin swimming near the restaurant area. Galata Bridge is also popular for fishing activities.


A walk from the Galata Bridge to the Galata Tower was quite challenging because we had to walk through quite many steep paths. But the panoramic view from the tower overlooking the Golden Horn, the Bosporus and the Marmara Sea made you forgot the tiring journey to reach the tower. We paid 10 lira to go to the tower. There is a lift, and when you reached the last floor, you have to climb up stairs.

On the way out from the Galata Tower, we mistakenly took a wrong turn. We had to walk so far to reach the tunel station at Karakoy. I remembered clearly that we passed through a small lane that has shops specializing in selling so many kinds of lamps, and then another lane that has shops that sell ladders. We took a tunel, and then nostalgic tram along the Istiklal Cad to reach Taksim Square. The notable landmark around Taksim Square is the statue of Independence.

On the way back, we took bus 61B Taksim - Beyazit route. We passed through the Attaturk Bridge, and the famous Aqueduct of Valens. We stopped at the Grand Bazaar and then took a metro to Sultanahmet station.
