Visiting Hastings, East Sussex - anyone?

Hastings is a small town, and few centuries ago, this place used to be popular as a fishing port. Historically, Hastings also associated with the Norman conquest of England. The Battle of Hastings particularly was significant to the Normans in their conquest for England. The battle took place at Senlac Hill, Hastings in 1066. Since then, Hastings is known as 1066 country.

Hastings can be reached by Southeastern train from Central London. The train journey is approximately 1 hour 45minutes, more or less. A one-day return ticket costs around £22.50 pp. The Hastings new town is just 10 minutes walk from the Hastings train station. The old town (i.e., George St area) is a bit further away, about 15-20 minutes from the station. Hastings old town is famous for the Net shops. There are many fish and chips shops around this area. The Fisherman Museum is free, and operates by a local charity. Don't forget to give donation after your visit to this little museum to help the local to run the museum.

Also, visit the ruin of Hastings Castle located on the West Hill. You can take the historic West Hill Lift to reach the hill. It costs £1.80 for a return ticket. The view from the hill is superb.
