The day we came face to face with Terracotta Warriors.

Standing about 6 foot high well built, came in different sizes, facial impression, colors, equipped with horses, bows and arrows, from generals to musicians and acrobat, swan and cranes, these Terracotta Warriors were discovered in 1974 in Xi’an, Shanxi province of China. They were buried along side with China’s First Emperor, Qin Shi Huang Ti.

This is the first time in the history that the largest collections of Terracotta Warrior were ever being brought out from China for exhibition.

For us, having a chance to see these “Actual” Terracotta Army Generals with horses and bronze chariots (some replicas) which were just a few feet away from us without any glasses or covers was a thrilling and moving experience. As we confronted these statues face to face, we got the feel of full force of this extraordinary achievement.

Anyway, the ticket for this exhibition cost us GBP12 each (incl. VAT) and I booked them since last February. Then, the British Museum allocated time slots for the exhibition to control the crowd. It was held in the temperature controlled Reading Room with tight securities and no cameras allowed.
