Happy Chinese New Year!

We like to wish all Happy Chinese New Year!

Usually around this time in Kuching, there will be a lot of fire crackers, and we really miss the feeling, especially around 12 midnight New Year Eve. Well we couldn't sleep because of the 'welcoming sound of new year' = sound of fire crackers. And also we are kind of worried if the fire crackers landed on top of our roof... heheh no heart feeling to young kids because my husband was also crazy about firecrackers during his childhood time.

Well, back in Kuching few days before Chinese New Year, we'll do some shopping. Buying some tit bits and cakes because usually our family and friends will drop by on the first day of the festival. Also today the eve of the festival, I and my hubby will do some last minute shopping buying the kamkuat to be delivered to our relatives house especially Aunty June and Uncle Henry, Aunty Janet and Uncle Tommy and Uncle Jason family. Giving Kamkuat (limau manis) in Chinese means sharing wealth. We just treat it as a routine, something that we should do to pay respect to old our relatives. Unfortunately, we won't get any Áng Pow because we've already married...hehehe Only children or bachelor will get Ang Pow.

Also, normally tonight we will have steamboat, steam fish (a must) and some seafood stuffs. In Chinese, fish is important because it signifies a prosperous New Year. As for us, it is just about the food always associate with the feeling of the festival. Let see what we have tonight...
