Weekend no.3
If I were in Kuching, Singapore Chicken Rice or KFC would be my 2nd kitchen. Yes, chicken rice for lunch, dinner, weekday and weekend. I can’t think of anything else healthier than the steam chicken or the roasted chicken with ‘sup lobak masin’.. hehe. Yupp, with those chicken rice shops or Café Oten around the corner I had never worried about my lunch or dinner back then. Gosh! I really miss them, the smell of ‘’Kopi kaw kaw’, ‘Kopi tarik’, Mee Kolok Vietnam etc.. at Café Oten in Malaysia.
Well, back to reality in London, we don’t have a luxury of chicken rice here, no ‘sup lobak masin’, no ‘belacan kangkong’, ‘midin’. The nearest place for ‘mee mamak’ with doses of ‘sambal belacan’ and the unauthentic chicken rice@London style is at the Malaysia Hall café, Bayswater which is 30 minutes train ride from my flat. I’m kind of fed up with those pizza, chips, burgers, fried or grilled chicken! of course, minus the Kebab. I still love Kebab. I don’t know why, probably it got something to do with my taste bud or maybe I like the char grill spices smells like ‘Satay’.
All these talking about food makes me hungry. My dinner menu for today, an instant Pilau rice, king prawn tandoori and the vegetable poh pia. Hmm, maybe I need to add some Malaysian taste into it, cencaluk ikan bilis. Yupp, Yang’s quick recipe, modify those anchovies meant for Sandwiches, squashed them with lime, chilli padi, belacan and dashes of sugar. She’s good at producing this, ON-THE-FLY recipe when we are desperate craving for a Malaysian taste.
