My new precious collection from my husband...a calligraphy artwork from Haji Noor Deen

This is the calligraphy artwork that my husband bought for me. He picked the same artwork from Haji Noor Deen's online gallery that I always want. I never told him about this artwork. It was really a surprise when he mentioned he has ordered this one to give to me. Thankyou darling! Also, thanks to Majid for this beautiful frame from Iran. The artwork fits nicely with the frame.

I first learned about Haji Noor Deen works from the British Museum collection. Here I extract some details from the British Museum website under 'Haji Noor Deen Mi Guanjiang (China), Ya rahim, ink on paper'.

• Haji Noor Deen is a prominent calligrapher and was the first Chinese Muslim to be awarded the Egyptian Certificate of Arabic Calligraphy. There are more than 30 million Muslims in China out of a population of around 1.3 billion. Haji Noor Deen teaches Arabic calligraphy at the Islamic College in Zhen Zhou.
• This work is in the sini (Chinese) script, which is characteristically used by Chinese Muslim artists. The large, bold and beautifully precise inscription reads 'O Merciful' (ya rahim). This is one of the 'Beautiful Names of God' (asma' al-husna) - a list of the ninety-nine attributes of God which are referred to in the Qur'an and in the Hadith, the body of traditions relating to the Prophet Muhammad.
• The smaller inscription at top left gives the date when the calligraphy was done: 'Winter Month, 2000'. At bottom left, the artist has signed his name in Arabic and Chinese and added his personal seal, which bears his name in Chinese.

• Hajji Noor Deen Mi Guangjiang (米廣江, born 1963) is an expert in Islamic calligraphy, specializing in the Sini style which originated from the Chinese Muslim tradition. Born in the province of Shandong, he is a lecturer at the Islamic College at Zhengzhou in the province of Henan, and is also a researcher of Islamic culture at the Henan Academy of Sciences. In 1997, Haji Noor Deen was the first Chinese Muslim to be awarded the Egyptian Certificate of Arabic Calligraphy and to be admitted as a member of the Association of Egyptian Calligraphy.
