THE FRIDGE !

Nope, I am not going to discuss about some Korean or Japanese horror flicks like ‘The phone’, ‘The Acacia’, ‘The ring’, ‘The ghost train’ etc. In fact, 'Fridge', as the name implied has an ability to give a snapshot of what and who we are. This interesting piece of equipment can be our time machine as well, Remember those food we bought couple of months back during the mega sale? Yes, they are still at large, sitting comfortably inside the fridge or maybe to hide our guilt of wastage. But sometimes, we do forget about them.

Back to memory lane 1999 while I am still closely associated with a local catering company. During one of their stock check, they discovered a couple boxes of peeled prawns and beef sitting in the dark corner of the freezer room back dated to 1991!!! Expired for 9 years! Very bad inventory control. .hehe.. Then, how about those who have obsession with vitamins will turn their fridge into their 2nd pharmacy or some with sweet tooth, so their fridges become a candy store. I use to know some of these fanatics; they have a special marked fridge for those items! Some have a big empty XXL fridge with fuzzy logic etc. but inside only housed an instant or canned food ! Other throws in hard disk, batteries, electrical components etc. Weird eh? for hard disk in the freezer case, I understand. It has some data recovery benefit but batteries and component? hmm.. isn't that a little bit dangerous ?

Anyway, back to our food. Well, like all other Malaysian, there is time when our fridge shares one common characteristic, producing a strong smells of durian or belacan! We may not be the type of people who is too obsess with fridge but I think it is a fate that bring us together ie. the fridge and us. But one 'fridge' experience in Melbourne makes us a little bit sentimental. So, we shipped it back to Malaysia! In London, most of the small flat like ours can only fitted with mini fridge. With the limited compartment, we have to do our grocery once a week as there is no rooms for permanent storage..

  • I don't have sweet memories with your fridge in Melbourne.. hahaha.. the only thing I can remember is driving the big van waiting in the cold winter morning and then lifting the bulky fridge up to the first floor and those cornering stairs.. they were really a killer!
